Data is increasingly central to policy and operational decisions, yet there remains a limited systematic understanding of how data and AI are actually applied within the public sector. Organised by DataNEt, this event will examine how local government officers in England use data, evidence, and AI tools to inform decisions across a range of public policy areas.
The event will feature insights from two British Academy–funded research projects investigating these practices in depth. The seminar is open to all. We particularly welcome input and feedback from local officers in the North East, including both analysts and decision-makers, to help ground the discussion in real-world experience.
Following the discussions, there will be opportunity to network and enjoy light refreshments. We hope to see you there!
