The job in a nutshell…
You will be a technical expert using the Power BI platform, and pro-actively research new
features as they become available to enable continuous development. Your experience with
Power BI will allow you to be a power BI advocate, sharing your knowledge as you train other
colleagues, as well as overseeing the Power BI capability across the business. Over time,
you will become a subject matter expert in all data held in Home Group systems and the
housing industry as a whole.
Data is the core of all business processes; your knowledge and experience of data modelling,
data warehousing concepts and data visualisation will allow you to be a data champion that
enables and empowers the business through informative dashboards and reports. This will
maximise business capability through collaboration and delivery during the whole life cycle
from requirement gathering to dashboard deployment, engaging with colleagues at every
step.
Stakeholder management is key – you will develop mutually beneficial relationships that
generate good rapport and increase your expertise in various business areas. By working
closely with database developers and data engineers, you will be able to provide valuable
insight to the business.
What success will look like…
A team all working collaboratively with the business to drive new insights and visualisations of
the data used every day delivering outstanding results, ensuring accuracy, quality and
consistency from every system.
Delivering multiple requirements through well-defined data models, using Power BI to
visualise data at every level across the business. Giving end users the data required to enable
them to self-serve quality data and analytics and complete their daily tasks, as well as the
ability to use the data to improve the customer experience.
Leading workshop sessions with stakeholders to inspire Home Group’s reporting and data
plans, providing expertise, guidance and support to all colleagues and embedding high
standards of accountability and integrity throughout the organisation.
All cyclical reporting is automated using Power BI. The business is able to visualise data at
every level with minimal support and interventions running on a common data model and
standardised system.
Keeping up to date with trends in the data space. Recommending new features, tools and
concepts as they become relevant in the industry. As well as having a keen eye on how this
relates to the housing sector, keeping up to date with guidance from the regulators and how
this impacts our reporting.
Using a common data model, working closely with colleagues within the department to
continuously improve how we access and process our data, allowing the team to produce
dashboards at pace.
You are known as a technical expert in both data and Power BI across the business. You have
knowledge of data modelling and star schemas and can use them to develop quality analytics,
looking pro-actively for trends and future opportunities.

Technical qualifications, experience and knowledge - Degree level, professional qualification or equivalent
experience from similar or same
role required. Experience of agile
project management methodology
and requirements gathering for
business needs and processes. - Experience using Microsoft Power BI, DAX, Power Query, T-SQL and Office 365 to an expert level. Data modelling and data warehouse techniques as well as an understanding of schema structures is essential. DP-900 Azure data fundamentals, AZ-900– Azure fundamentals, Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300)
- Programming languages and techniques, although not essential would be beneficial for the role. Knowledge of cloud technologies would be advantageous.
- Proactively identifies opportunities for continuous improvement to increase efficiency and quality in work produced, as well as from a personal development perspective.
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to stakeholder management. Analysing and understanding requirements from technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to build relationships with internal and external customers from all levels of the business.

Familiarity with and using Business Event Analysis & Modelling (BEAM) approach would be useful, but not essential.
