About you
As a BPDTS Application Support Analyst the applications you will be supporting are critical to DWP as they affect thousands of DWP users, who in turn provide services to millions of vulnerable UK citizens. It’s your job to help keep them online and running.

You’re fit in with a really friendly, collaborative team. You will be energetic, positive and motivated even when things are challenging for you and your team-mates.  As an Application Support Analyst here you’ll have chance to use your technical and investigative skills to get stuck into issues to find out why things aren’t working.

In this role you will monitor and maintain live systems, manage incidents and fix issues using the right tools, systems and data at the right times. You’ll be responsible for configuration and installation of important products and services. You’ll be involved in overseeing batch runs, controlling IT assets and test activities, identifying risks and supporting improvements to people, processes and tooling.

And you’ll do it all in collaboration and partnership with your brilliant team and the wider BPDTS community.

What are we looking for?

  • You work in a disciplined environment under pressure to meet challenging deadlines
  • You can work independently but equally well in a team. Whatever is best to get the job done
  • You know your way around the Microsoft Office suite
  • You have experience of working with ANY of the following tools and technologies:
  • COBOL
  • MicroFocus
  • COBOL (Application Code)
  • Tuxedo (Online Transaction Processing)
  • Oracle SQL (Database Queries)
  • Linux (Host Environment)
  • VME (TPMS/IDMSX/BATCH)
  • SCL
  • Shell Scripting
  • Python
  • XML
  • Siebel CRM based applications, with aspects of WebSphere, Informatica, LDAP, Tivoli, Oracle Database, Datapower, Unix, Autosys, and Windows Server.

It’s also great if…

  • You have experience of working in an IT Live Support environment.
  • You have experience of ITIL v3 framework
  • You understand Agile methodologies

In some of our Application Support Analyst roles you will be expected to work as part of an on call rota. If we do need you to be on call we offer a competitive on call allowance.
