What you’ll do

Content designers make things easier for people to understand and use. They make sure government services and information are as helpful as possible.

This can involve writing a single piece of content or designing a complete user journey through a process. They put the right information in the best place for users.

Content designers put the needs of users first.

Your impact

As a Senior Content Designer you’ll:

  • identify and build strong relationships with stakeholders across large-scale and high-profile projects, influencing and collaborating with them to improve content quality
  • create and iterate user-centred content efficiently and to a high standard
  • use analytics data, user feedback and user research to identify user needs, map user journeys and inform content strategy
  • review and provide direction on the work of other content designers and experts from other disciplines
  • manage relationships between your team and other teams in GDS to ensure consistency and share good practice
  • contribute to guidance for government, including content principles and patterns
  • contribute to the GDS content design community and cross-government content design community
  • help colleagues and stakeholders from other disciplines understand what content design is, why it’s important and how to work with content designers
